Concern over Kidderminster crime spike as vehicles broken into

Ryan Smith 2nd Apr, 2026

CONCERNS are growing after a recent spate of overnight crimes, which has seen several vehicles broken into across Kidderminster.

Over the past week, West Mercia Police have received reports of cars being broken into on Franche Court Drive, Lowe Lane, Marlpool Lane and St Johns Avenue in Kidderminster.

The latest of these crimes happened between 10.30pm on Sunday (March 29) and 9.15am on Monday (March 30), during which items were stolen from a car on Marlpool Lane.

On St John’s Avenue at around 3.21am on March 24, a white man wearing a blue cap was spotted on CCTV interfering with parked vehicles on driveways and the roadside.

West Mercia Police has now launched an investigation into the crimes, and concerns over the spate of similar crimes have been shared on the Neighbourhood Matters website.

PC Ryan Bridgewood, who works in North and East Kidderminster, said these crimes are taking place between midnight and 6am.

PC Bridgewood said: “We are keen to hear from anyone who may have any information relating to the theft of these items or who may have been in the area around the time of the incident and heard or seen anything suspicious.

“If you have any CCTV, please make contact.

“There are some simple but effective things you can do to help protect your property – where possible, remove all valuable items from your vehicle before leaving it unattended.

“We are also encouraging the community to call us on 999 if they see anyone acting suspiciously around a vehicle.

“Thank you for your help. It is only by the police and the public working together that we can prevent and detect crime.”
