A STOURPORT antique shop has announced it will be closing its doors next month.
Caldicotts, which sells antiques from its shop on Stourport High Street, will be shut its doors for the final time by May 23.
The owners took to Facebook to announce their decision, revealing they had made the choice to close so they could focus on its sister company, Caldiprops, which trades in props and set build for film, retail and events.
Back in January, the owners announced, after much consideration, they had decided to put the shop up for sale.
A statement on the shop’s Facebook account said: “After a very busy lead up to Christmas, making props and with lots of enquiries for 2026, indications are we are going to be very busy designing and making props.
“This has made us realise we are probably not going to have enough time to run the shop, as it takes up a lot of time to travel and source the items we have for sale.
“We have therefore taken the option to use the break clause in our lease.
“Our last day of trading will be Saturday, May 23, or sooner, depending on stock levels.”
The antique shop is holding a closing down sale between now and its final trading day.
Saddened customers took to social media to react to the news.
One said: “I’m really sorry to hear you are closing the shop, but glad to hear that Caldiprops is doing well.
“I will be sure to pop into your wonderful shop to say goodbye and have a mooch.”
Caldicotts first moved into the High Street store last February after previously operating from Riverside Business Centre.
