Kidderminster's Jelleyman's Mill to host seed and plant swap

Tristan Harris 26th Apr, 2026

RESIDENTS and gardening enthusiasts are being urged to take part in a Seed and Plant Swap next Sunday, May 3.

The event will take place in the natural riverside surroundings of the historic Jelleyman’s Heritage Arts Charity’s (JHAC) Townshend Works in Puxton Lane, Kidderminster.

The Seed and Plant Swap is the first event to have been organised by Incredible Edible Kidderminster and is supported by Community Housing.

It gives attendees the chance to exchange seeds and plants, share practical growing knowledge and connect with others interested in making better use of local green spaces.

Alongside the free seed swap tables, there will be stalls from local organisations and growers, along with free refreshments available throughout the day.

Family-friendly activities will also be provided by Chris Millington from the Local Gardener Initiative. He will help ensure people of different ages can take part and learn something new.

Set beside the River Stour within the grounds of the former carpet factory, the venue reflects a wider focus on bringing new purpose to local heritage spaces while encouraging more sustainable habits.

Incredible Edible Kidderminster is part of a wider UK movement which aims to turn towns into places where food is grown and shared more openly.

The group supports planting projects across Kidderminster, including in public spaces such as streets, schools, and transport areas, where residents are able to pick produce for free.

A spokesperson for Incredible Edible Kidderminster said: “This event is about building connections within the community, sharing knowledge, and encouraging people to think differently about how and where food can be grown.”

Coun Vicky Caulfield, who represents the Green Party on Wyre Forest District Council in the Blakebrook and Habberley South ward, said: “Incredible Edible Kidderminster is very excited to hold our first event.

“We are passionate about growing more food locally in public areas, where people can pick produce for free.

“It’s good for the community, better for the environment and supports our health and wellbeing.”

The Seed and Plant Swap is free and everyone is welcome to attend.
