New Kidderminster park to be officially opened this weekend

Kidderminster Editorial 1st May, 2026

THE OFFICIAL opening of the new Talbot Park will take place in Kidderminster town centre tomorrow (Saturday, May 2), writes Zaynab Hamdy.

The newly-created green space will be unveiled with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11am on the steps of the new park on Worcester Street.

The ribbon will be cut by Jean Talbot, wife of Charles Talbot MBE – the man the park is named after.

Wyre Forest District Council leader, Coun Marcus Hart, will accompany Jean at the event which everyone is welcome to.

Coun Hart said: “We are delighted to open Talbot Park which sits in a stunning newly created space connecting Worcester Street and Bromsgrove Street.

“It has been created and developed with funding from the government’s Future High Streets Fund and Wyre Forest District Council and is a key part of the council’s adopted vision for the town ‘Kidderminster 2040’.

“We hope this park and green space planted with trees will become a meeting and relaxation place, enjoyed by all for many generations to come.”
