BEWDLEY’S popular Riverside Market made a welcome return on Sunday (May 3) and will now run twice a month.
There was an official opening ceremony conducted by Mayor of Bewdley, Coun Nicole Harper, who welcomed traders and visitors to the town.

She said: “Bewdley has always been a thriving market town and popular markets used to extend along the river as well as in Load Street attracting many visitors to the town, its shops and cafés.
“However, the popular Bewdley market stopped in 2020 when the onset of Covid led to a nationwide lockdown.”
After a gap of several years, Bewdley Town Council was delighted to be able to relaunch the Sunday Riverside Markets in collaboration with Midland Markets and Marshalls who have worked with the council to make this happen.

Several stalls shared the quay on Severn Side North with a children’s ride and the café terraces.
The Got to Sing choir brought over 30 of its singers to perform for the official opening.
After this – first – Bewdley Sunday Riverside Market, they will now be on the first and third Sunday of each month from May to September. The next one will be from 9am to 3pm on Sunday, May 17.

Coun Harper added: “Bewdley Town Council and residents are confident that, despite the long wait, over the next few weeks, many people will return to Bewdley on Market Sundays to enjoy this beautiful town and everything it has to offer.
“Save the date and spread the word for the next one.”
