THE COUNTDOWN to Christmas is under way in Bewdley as the town gears up for its big festive lights switch-on.

The event will take place in Load Street between 1.30pm and 6pm on Saturday, November 30.

It will feature live entertainment, a stage by BBC Hereford and Worcester, a host of stalls, funfair and a free park and ride.

There will be a festive atmosphere as the stalls sell an array of seasonal products, unique gifts, stocking fillers and festive food and drink.

Entertainment will include a life-size snow globe, traditional carousel, stilt walkers, jugglers and segwaying Nutcrackers.

The funfair will feature large rides and children’s rides.

The free Santa’s Grotto opens at 1pm at the back of Kemp Hospice.

The big countdown for the lights switch-on will be held at 5.30pm.

The FREE event has been organised by Bewdley Town Council, in conjunction with Wyre Forest District Council.

Yesterday (Saturday) a Nutcracker Trail got under way in the town which runs until Saturday, November 23. Participants have to find the Nutcracker dolls in a number of shops, fill in the details of where they are on a trail sheet and hand the sheets in for a chance to win a pass on the Severn Valley Railway. Trail sheets are available from participating shops.  Click here for more details.

Details of the FREE park and ride are below.
