A SPECIAL service and flag raising ceremony was held in Bewdley on Monday to mark Armed Forces Day 2026.
Bewdley Town Council said it wanted to extend its heartfelt thanks to the dignitaries, Armed Forces veterans and members of the public who gathered in Load Street to honour those serving the UK.

The Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Worcestershire, Fiona Charny, opened the event with a warm welcome. This was followed by a moving and reflective address from the Mayor of Bewdley, Coun Sharon Harvey. Their words set a fitting tone of gratitude and Remembrance.

Rev Beynon led a short but meaningful service and prayers outside the Guildhall, providing a moment of collective reflection for all who serve and have served.

Following the ceremony, attendees were invited to St Anne’s Church for refreshments. There, the community continued to share stories and their appreciation for the Armed Forces.

Bewdeleye Town Council added it would like to give special thanks to Chris Goode, whose sound equipment and specially created audio piece – featuring messages from local Scouts and Guides – added a heartfelt and memorable touch to the occasion.

Bewdley is proud to stand together in recognition of the dedication, courage, and sacrifice of the United Kingdom’s Armed Forces.

Each year, Wyre Forest’s Armed Forces Day commemorations alternate between the three towns – this year’s was Bewdley’s.
The flag will fly until Saturday, June 27, this year’s official Armed Forces Day.
