TESCO in Kidderminster has donated more than 20 crates of school uniform for families in Worcestershire, writes Sage Whitfield.

Foster carers from across the country were pleased to receive this generous donation at the Worcestershire County Council’s Foster Carer Conference.

The conference, held on November 19 at Worcestershire Count Cricket Club, celebrates and thanks foster carers for their ongoing dedication to supporting and looking after children across the county.

The whole scheme was first initiated by one of Worcestershire Fostering carers, Adele Green and the Community Champion for Tesco in Kidderminster who recognised the potential value of the surplus uniforms.

Adele and her colleague Rachel Mills delivered a wide range of school uniforms to the conference in various sizes and styles giving foster carers the opportunity to take uniform to distribute to their local schools, the remaining uniforms were donated to Family Hubs and local charities.

Kidderminster Tesco store manager, Steve Neeson, said: “We are delighted to be able to support children across the local area with our surplus uniform.

“Hopefully it will go some way to helping the education of our young people.”

Worcestershire County Council’s Cabinet Member with Responsibility for Children and Families, Coun Steve Mackay, added: “This contribution will make a significant difference to many families across the county.”
