BEWDLEY Town suffered a late 2-1 defeat against Clanfield 85 as the club’s winless run in the league stretched to seven matches.

The visitors looked set to claim a point courtesy of Ryan Bangay’s first-half equaliser only for Tyger Hall to score a last-minute winner for the home side at Radcot Road.

And the result means Bewdley sit 14th in the Hellenic League Division One table, five points above the relegation zone.

After Bewdley spurned a number of chances to take the lead, Clanfield broke the deadlock on 28 minutes when George Seacole finished Reuben Harry’s cross from the right.

Bewdley thought they had drawn level soon after when Jack Bailey touched home Jake Hollylee’s initial effort only for the assistant to belatedly raise his flag for offside.

However, the visitors drew level on 36 minutes as Bangay’s powerful shot beat the Clanfield goalkeeper.

Chances were at a premium after the break before Hall fired home in the 90th minute to deny the visitors a share of the spoils.

Bewdley host Abingdon United on Saturday, December 7 with kick-off at 3pm at Ribbesford Meadows.
