PHIL Brown admits Kidderminster Harriers are ‘one step closer to Wembley’ after his side reached the fifth round of the FA Trophy with a dominant 4-0 win against Slough Town.

A hat-trick from Ashley Hemmings and further strike from Maz Kouhyar sealed a comfortable victory for the home side at Aggborough.

And Harriers Brown admits his side blew away their National League South opponents with a scintillating first-half display.

Brown said: “We looked at the draw and the way its made up, it’s been a right mixture of upsets until we get to this stage.

“We made lots of changes and we won the game comfortably, it’s getting into the hat and getting one step closer to Wembley.

“I can’t tell you what my strongest team is now I’ve seen that [against Slough], we completely blew them away in the first half.

“We had a little bit more intelligence with the ball, we played with a little bit of assertiveness and simplicity in midfield.

“We know that target on our back is getting bigger and the reputation is growing stronger.

“It just shows the strength in depth of the squad.

“When we’re not 100 per cent at it or take the foot off the gas a little bit, you can’t at this level.”

Kidderminster broke the deadlock on 15 minutes when Hemmings superbly flicked Jim Kellermann’s ball in from the left past Charlie Horlock in the Slough goal from six-yards out.

And Hemmings doubled the home side’s lead six minutes later after he coolly finished past Horlock when one-on-one after Joe Foulkes flicked on Christian Dibble’s clearance up the pitch.

Harriers all but sealed their place in the next round in first-half injury time as Kouhyar drove into the penalty are before finishing low past Horlock from 12-yards out.

And Hemmings completed his hat-trick on 54 minutes with another composed finish beyond Horlock to secure the home side’s spot in round five.

Kidderminster are next in action against Marine on Saturday, January 11 with kick-off at 3pm at Rossett Park.
