THE OWNERS of Kidderminster’s Weavers Wharf look set to take over the management and parking enforcement in the retail park’s car park.
LCP Estates Ltd has requested that Weavers Wharf car park is removed from Wyre Forest District Council’s Off-street Parking Places Order.
The company has stated it wants to improve the infrastructure within the car park to make parking management more efficient. It is also looking to invest in the repairs and upkeep and ‘expand the facility of concessionary discounts.’
Coun Ben Brookes, Wyre Forest District Council’s Cabinet Member with responsibility for Operational Services, said: “The car park is part of the Weavers Wharf Shopping Centre which has been under private ownership since it was created in early 2000.
“The council doesn’t own it, but we have been managing the car park and carrying out enforcement there.
“LCP has requested the removal of the parking places order as they want greater flexibility in the car park’s operation and we have agreed to start the process.”
Wyre Forest District Council is carrying out a consultation on the request to remove the car park from the parking places order.
The consultation began yesterday (Thursday) and runs until 4pm on Wednesday, February 5.
