PUPILS raised a glass of fruit juice to celebrate the opening of a £4,500 wellbeing garden, writes May-Ling Turner.

The toast took place at Wolverley Sebright Primary Academy with a ribbon cutting ceremony by Mr Heath.

The garden has been named Heath’s Garden after its creator, Clive Heath.

Grandparent Julia Bell designed the garden.

School council representatives and head of school James Price thanked staff and volunteers.

They converted an unused corner of the site into a relaxing play area with a gazebo, picnic benches, spring flowering bulbs and landscaping.

Mr Price said: “This area has been transformed into an attractive garden.”

Each one of the 240 pupils planted a bulb during the autumn term.

Teacher Vicki Harrison, who managed the project, said: “The garden is a wonderful place for children who want to enjoy some relaxing time, chatting and playing.”

The project was made possible from a £3,000 Worcestershire County Council Public Health Scheme Grant and £1,500 from the Sebright Foundation.

The school’s Parent Teacher Association also bought a bench and thank you gifts for Mr Heath, Mrs Bell and Mrs Harrison.
