THERE was plenty of family-friendly fun at the open day of a newly-opened £1.5million Kidderminster vet practice.
Dozens of visitors descended on Maggie and Marlow for the day which was also attended by Kidderminster Mayor, Coun George Connolly.
The community-focused practice, part of veterinary group Linnaeus, held activities, competitions and giveaways, along with providing a rare glimpse behind the scenes of its cutting-edge surgery at Prospect House in Lion Square.
‘Fantastic for the town’
Coun Connolly said he had a great time visiting Maggie and Marlow and wished the team all the best in its new home.
“It’s absolutely fantastic – I think it will be an asset to pet owners.
“The new £1.5 million state-of-the-art facilities will also provide much-needed investment into the town.”
Practice manager and registered veterinary nurse Rhiannon Cartwright was delighted the event was such a success.
She said: “It was great to welcome so many animal lovers for our open afternoon.
“It was wonderful to shine a light on our facilities and what happens behind the scenes.
“We’re dedicated to supporting and helping to educate our local community and this was a great way for people to meet our team and learn about how we look after poorly pets.”
She told the Standard the practice opened in November and had received fantastic feedback from pet owners.
Because of the busy time between the opening and Christmas, it was decided to wait until now for the official open day to give people a look behind the scenes when they had more time.
The modern practice is named after owner Maggie and her pet Marlow, reflecting the close relationships between animals and their owners.
State-of-the-art facilities
It features five consulting rooms, two surgical theatres, its own laboratory and dental, X-ray and ultrasound suites.
