PHIL Brown admits Kidderminster Harriers can now put all of their focus into their league campaign after losing 1-0 against Sutton United in the FA Trophy.

Harriers suffered a fifth round exit at the hands of the National League side as Will Davies’ late goal proved decisive at Aggborough.

And Brown admits his side’s desire to win the game may have ended up costing Harriers at full time.

Brown said: “The difference between the two teams was minimal, I thought they were just a tad more streetwise than what we were.

“The collective mentality was we must win this game of football instead of taking what we’ve got and going into a penalty shootout, we might still have been in the cup.

“It’s a lesson in how to win or how to not lose games of football, we were so close to a clean sheet, it was no disgrace or shame in being beaten by Sutton.

“We’re now out of the FA Trophy and we can focus all our attention on the league campaign.

“We don’t want to lose track of what the carrot at the end of the stick is and that’s to get promoted this year.”

The game’s only goal came 10 minutes from time when Davies scrambled the ball home from close range despite the best efforts of Christian Dibble.

Kidderminster are next in action against Chorley on Saturday, February 8 with kick-off at 3pm at Aggborough.
