POLICE patrols were stepped up at Hartlebury Common yesterday afternoon after reporrs of scrambler motorbikes being driven anti-socially in the area.

The Stourport Police Safer Neighbourhood Team took the action after calls from a member of the public.

Following the incident, officers are reminding people that, although built for off-road use,  it is illegal to ride quad bikes, three-wheeled bikes, trail bikes and some other two-wheeled vehicles in public parks or on publicly-owned land without permission from the local authority.

As with unlicensed powered vehicles, these can only be used on private roads or land with the road or land-owner’s permission.

Anyone who sees off-road bikes being ridden illegally should report it to police on 101 or 999 if there is a risk to public safety.
