STOURPORT-on-Severn CC made the perfect start to the new season with a dominant nine-wicket win against Pedmore.

Stourport bowled out the home side for just 75 runs and reached the required total in 12 overs for the loss of a single wicket at Rectory Glebe.

The result means Stourport sit top of the Worcestershire County League Premier Division table after taking 20 points from the fixture.

Stourport won the toss and elected to field as the visitors made a number of early inroads in the Pedmore innings.

The away side restricted Pedmore to 17-5 with only Oam Patel (33) and Dave Skelding (19) managing double figures with the bat.

Pedmore rallied to reach 65-5 before losing their final five wickets for the addition of just 10 runs.

Naeem Abbas (3-25), Jamie Brighton (2-2), Charlie Foley (2-5), Ryan Derrick (2-9) and Nikhil Jose (1-15) took the wickets.

Stourport lost Foley (5) early in their reply as Brighton (38 not out) and Peter Hawk (22 not out) guided the visitors to a dominant opening day win.

Stourport are next in action against Pershore on Saturday, April 26 with the game to start at 11.30am at Walshes Meadow.
