THE ANNUAL St George’s Day Parade by the Wyre Forest Scouts will take place this Sunday, April 27, in Kidderminster.
The group will meet at New Road before moving off at 10.30am and journeying to Kidderminster Harriers’ Aggborough stadium where a celebration service will be held.
The parade will then head back to the town centre.
Road closures
While the procession is going on, there will be a ‘rolling road closures’ so those parading can progress safely.
A number of roads will be shut during this time, including New Road from its junction with Pump Street to Marlborough Street in both directions.
Oxford Street will be closed from its junction with New Road to Comberton Hill.
Comberton Hill will close from the junction with Oxford Street to Hoo Road (this includes the ring road in both directions).
Hoo Road will close in both directions from its junction with Comberton Hill to Oakhill Avenue and Marlborough Street will shut from its junction with New Road to Prospect Hill.
Worcester Street will close from its junction with Prospect Hill to the junction with Coventry Street (both directions).
Likewise, the High Street from its junction with Worcester Street to the junction with Vicar Street will also shut in both directions.
Oxford Street will close from its junction with Vicar Street and Exchange Street to Bridge Street in both directions.
And Bridge Street will be shut in both directions from its junction with Oxford Street to the junction with New Road.
Great response
A spokesperson for Wyre Forest Scouts said everyone was looking forward to the annual event.
“We usually have between 600 and 700 people taking part and we always get a good turn-out and response from the public.”
