KIDDERMINSTER Harriers reached the next round of the FA Cup with a 2-0 replay win against Buxton in Third Round Qualifying but the victory came at a cost.

Goals in either half from Jack Lambert and Amari Morgan-Smith at Aggborough Stadium sealed Kidderminster’s place in FA Cup Fourth Round Qualifying where they will host Guiseley.

However, key midfielder Luke Summerfield sustained a potentially serious injury after just 10 minutes and faced a 10-hour wait in hospital for an x-ray after receiving treatment on the pitch.

Brown said: “Unfortunately, Luke Summerfield looks like he’s out for a lengthy period of time, he’s waiting for an x-ray, he’s got a 10-hour wait at Worcester Hospital which doesn’t bode well, I’ll be calling him on the way home to see how he is.

“It was a totally different game to the weekend, I was more proud of the lads in the challenge than the two-nil scoreline, whatever Buxton threw at us we decided to stand up against it and that’s a good sign.

“When it becomes physical we know we can match it, when it becomes technical we know we’re good enough, if you piece the two together with the mentality of the group that’s what we need to do.

“The character of the performance was the best part, the clean sheet was the right kind of mentality, we need that in abundance.”

The two teams played out a 1-1 draw last weekend to send the tie to a replay.

And Harriers broke the deadlock on 29 minutes when Lambert finished on the rebound after True Grant kept out Morgan-Smith’s initial effort.

The home side doubled their lead two minutes after half time as Morgan-Smith powered the ball home from Harry Ibbitson’s flick-on.

Brown’s men held on to book their place in Fourth Round Qualifying at the expense of their National League North rivals.

Kidderminster are next in action against Spennymoor Town on Saturday, October 5 with kick-off at 3pm at Brewery Field.
