KIDDERMINSTER Harriers have appointed Adam Murray as the club’s new manager to replace former boss Phil Brown.
Murray guided AFC Fylde to the National League North title in 2022/23 and led Eastbourne Borough to the semi-finals of the National League South play-offs this campaign.
The 43-year-old enjoyed a brief spell with Kidderminster as a player and now returns to Aggborough in the dugout for the 2025/26 season.
Harriers chairman, Richard Lane said: “I’m delighted to welcome Adam Murray to our football club. His enthusiasm, commitment and passion for the position came through loudly when we met and his CV, as a player and a manager, speaks for itself.
“I believe this appointment will excite our amazing partners, sponsors, supporters and staff, this demonstrates again that we are fully committed to succeeding at this level and we’re all looking forward to the new season.”
He replaces Brown in the Aggborough dugout after Harriers parted company with their former boss just days after the club suffered defeat against Chester in the play-off semi-finals.
Murray made over 500 appearances as a player in the Premier League, Football League and non-league.
His spell with Harriers came on loan and then on a permanent basis in the 2003/04 season, scoring three goals in 22 appearances.
Following his retirement he became the youngest manager in England’s top four divisions with Mansfield in 2014/15.
He spent just under two years in charge of the Stags before becoming manager at Boston United.
Murray lost his job after just under a year charge and later managed Barnsley under-18s while also taking caretaker charge of the first team on two occasions.
He followed former Tykes boss Valerian Ismael to West Bromwich Albion as assistant manager ahead of the 2021/22 season and later linked up again with Ismael at Turkish giants Besiktas.
Murray returned to management with Fylde in 2022/23 and guided the Lancashire club to promotion as champions in the same season Harriers went up via the play-offs.
However, Fylde sacked Murray in October 2023 with the club bottom of the National League table.
He later managed Eastbourne and turned the club from relegation candidates into promotion contenders.
Borough finished third in the National League South last season – just one point behind champions Truro City.
However, Eastbourne suffered defeat against Maidstone United in the play-off semi-finals with Murray confirming his departure to move closer to his family in Derby.
