A KIDDERMINSTER councillor has provided £300 for the town’s Incredible Edible Project which promotes sustainable community-led food growing in public spaces.
The funding was presented by Coun Vicky Caulfield, who represents the Green Party in Blakebrook and Habberley South, via her ward grant.
The cash will go towards the installation of three new planters, each showcasing vibrant vegetable displays, along with informational signs to engage and educate the public.
These planters will not only brighten up the local area but also offer residents the opportunity to connect with nature, learn about growing food, and enjoy fresh produce.
Coun Caulfield said: “Incredible Edible is a growing movement across the country and one Kate Spohrer from WFGA and I wanted to bring to Kidderminster.
“I’ve heard from many local groups who are already growing food and wanted to build on that to provide free, healthy food across the town.
“Please help yourself to any produce you see in the planters.
“We are looking for more groups and businesses to be involved in this initiative, so do get in touch.
“I’m very pleased that Twigs and the town council have been able to give their support to the project and get Incredible Edible Kidderminster officially started as part of SustFest.”
The Plants were provided by Twigs (The Emily Jordan Foundation) and will be watered by Kidderminster BID which is working in partnership with Kidderminster Town Council.
The planters will be located in visible, accessible spots within the town, encouraging passers-by to interact with the displays and learn more about the benefits of local food growing.
The grant reflects ongoing efforts to foster greener, more resilient neighbourhoods through small but meaningful investments in grassroots community projects.
