ANOTHER stunning knock from Daniel Lategan helped Kidderminster CC to a winning draw against Shifnal.
Lategan starred with the bat as Kidderminster closed on 241-5 at the end of their 55 overs at Chester Road.
And the hosts restricted Shifnal to 142-8 in reply with the visitors chasing a revised target of 242 from 50 overs.
Kidderminster claimed 16 points from the fixture and sit 11th in the Birmingham and District Premier League Premier Division Two table.
Shifnal won the toss and elected to field only for Kidderminster openers H Sockett (57) and Lucas Ingram (36) to put on 72 runs for the first wicket.
Shaun Lorimer (1-61) eventually trapped Ingram LBW before Ben Lees stumped Sockett off the bowling of Charlie Home (2-87).
Shifnal bowler Jack Shields (2-26) then picked up a couple of quick wickets as he removed both Nathan Jukes (16) and Ben Griffin (1).
However, Lategan (91 not out) and Mateen Khan (32) combined for an 88-run fifth-wicket stand before the latter fell to Home.
Kidderminster closed on 241-5 as Lategan hit 10 boundaries including four maximums.
And the hosts made the perfect start with the ball as B Clements (4-38) removed Shifnal opener Michael Robinson (0) for a golden duck.
Clements ripped through Shifnal’s top order as he also claimed the scalps of Sam Scrimgeour (20) and Home (12).
And Liam Weston (2-37) trapped Rahul Kaushal (24) LBW and also removed Jack Edwards (2) to leave Shifnal in trouble on 70-5.
The wickets continued to tumble as Lategan (2-38) took the quick wickets of Chris Murrall (10) and Matt Denver (1) with Shifnal in danger on 90-7.
However, Lees (48 not out) faced 115 deliveries while Shifnal’s tail end dug in to deny Kidderminster an outright win although the home side still took the lion’s share of the points.
Kidderminster are next in action against Handsworth on Saturday, June 21 with the game to start at 12pm at Handsworth Park.
