BEWDLEY Town Council is in the process of reintroducing a Community Speed Watch (CSW) programme but is in need of more volunteers for the scheme, writes Lola Griffin.
The CSW is aimed at encouraging motorists to drive at a safe and appropriate speed and prevent drivers travelling too fast in the town’s hotsports.
The group will also strive to re-educate drivers about the dangers of speeding and address concerns from local residents regarding cars speeding through their neighborhood.
From April to November 2024, Bewdley Town Council members co-ordinated a group of volunteers, vetted by police and trained to engage in the Community Speed Watch. The project was set up with the help of West Mercia Police and now more people are needed for it.
Anyone able to dedicate a couple hours a week should contact Bewdley Town Council at 01299 400157, by email at [email protected] or by completing an application form which can be collected from the Town Council office, 6, Load Street
The council also has ’20 is plenty’ wheelie bin stickers available at their office for collection.
These are also aimed at encouraging drivers to think about the speed they are travelling at.
Anyone wanting one should visit the town council offices between 10am and 3pm, Monday to Friday.
