Little Trinity Nursery children in Kidderminster show off their swimming skills at gala

RED Ladybirds from Little Trinity Nursery made a splash at the annual summer Swimming Gala in Kidderminster, writes Lola Griffin.

The annual swimming event offers families and carers the chance to see the progress their children have made in the pool since September.

Nursery Manager Gaynor Carter said: “The gala is a fantastic opportunity for them to demonstrate their newly acquired water skills to families, as well as experience their first taste of friendly competition as they strive to do the very best they can.”

The Red Ladybirds competed in teams of Sharks, Jellyfish, Starfish and Dolphins, swimming on their fronts and backs and manoeuvring fun objects in the water.

Each child took a plunge as they jumped into the deep end and swam the length of the pool with the support and cheers of their families, carers and staff.

Statistically, drowning is still one of the most common causes of accidental death in children – many children have their first swimming experiences when they start at Little Trinity.

Gaynor added: “Swimming ensures children remain safe when playing in water and provides lots of fun and health benefits.

“It is truly satisfying for all our staff to see how much each child has progressed over the nursery year and just wonderful to be able to share with parents.”
