PIPE BURST LATEST - Kidderminster mains fixed but streets shut for road repairs

SEVERN Trent has now completed the repairs to the water pipe which burst on Friday and is now repairing the extensive damage to the road.

Because of the ferocity of the burst, the tarmac on Green Street was ripped apart and damaged and engineers had to remove sections to access the pipe.

The extensive repairs mean not all the roads in the surrounding area are completely accessible.

Today, a Severn Trent spokesperson told the Standard: “Our team has now completed repairs to the burst on Green Street in Kidderminster.

“However, traffic management is still in place at Castle Road, Green Street, Dickson Street, and New Road while we repair the road.

“We would like to thank you to the council, the emergency services, and those who were affected by the burst.

“We know that roadworks can be disruptive and would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused.”

Roads were flooded when the burst happened and there had to be emergency closures put in place by Worcestershire County Council.

Homes were left without water into Saturday but those supply issues have now been resolved.
