The annual Mayor’s Civic Sunday event formally marks the welcome of the newly-elected Mayor and serves as an opportunity to bring together civic leaders, community representatives, and residents.
The theme of this year’s service was Sanctuary Sunday, a key part of Refugee Week. Readings highlighted the Christian message of ‘love thy neighbour as yourself’.

Coun Hine said: “I’d like to thank all that attended the service.
“It was a good opportunity to express our care and compassion to refugees – those whose lives are turned upside down by war, oppression and climate destruction.
