A CHARITY has launched an appeal for volunteers to help support its bank workers with grounds maintenance.
The Emily Jordan Foundation is looking for people to carry out tasks at either its Kidderminster or Quarry Bank premises.
Activities could include weekly litter picks at local public places, mowing lawns and weeding. They may also be tasked with refurbishing public garden furniture.
The Emily Jordan Foundation helps people with learning difficulties lead fulfilled lives through projects which teach them to learn new and practical work-based skills with an aim to enabling them to finding and remaining in employment.
It was set up by Emily’s family and friends as her legacy after she died in April 2008 in New Zealand. It came after she finished her law degree at Swansea University.
Emily understood the difficulties faced by people with disabilities, both socially and when trying to gain employment, as she grew up with a brother with moderate learning disabilities.
Emily helped her father, Chris, to set up LAFS, a group that still meets for social interaction, in Kidderminster. She then helped with the setting up and running of Spokes CIC, whilst at University.
Volunteers would undertake their roles for around half-a-day each to start with.
Anyone who can help should call the charity’s volunteer manager Niki on 07572 715382 or email: [email protected] for more information.
