Bromsgrove's Artrix unveils traditional tale as this year's Christmas Pantomime

Tristan Harris 22nd Jul, 2025

IT MAY be the height of summer but Artrix Bromsgrove has announced this year’s Christmas pantomime.

Half Tail Productions will bring a new version of Treasure Island to Bromsgrove, with modern twists on Robert Louis Stevenson’s traditional tale.

People are urged to grab their eye-patches, hoist the Jolly Roger, and prepare to embark on a rollicking, raucous and ridiculously fun adventure.

It centres on young Jim Hawkins as he discovers a mysterious treasure map and is swept away on a high-seas adventure packed with boisterous buccaneers, a daft Dame, glittering gold and a very cheeky parrot.

Dastardly Long John Silver is hot on the trail with more tricks up his sleeve than a magician at a birthday party.

The show promises hilarious hijinks, toe-tapping tunes, buckets of slapstick magical mayhem and plenty of audience participation.

Executive producer/director Suzanne Lane said: “I am so excited to bring the magic of panto to the people of Bromsgrove this year.

“Treasure Island is a story I’ve loved since childhood, and to now get to re-enact it on stage is a dream come true.

“The script and songs have already been prepared, and we promise there is an abundance of twists and turns, hilarious characters, sing-a-long tunes, jaw-dropping special effects and non-stop laughs and not forgetting a sprinkling of panto magic.”

The show will drop its anchor throughout the whole of December with a mixture of evening and weekend shows, plus daytime school shows.

The school shows are nearly all full, but any schools wanting to check availability are urged to get in touch.
