Kidderminster the most northern town in Worcestershire, on the River Stour, with a population of around 57,400. It has a rich history and is particularly known for textiles and a carpet industry which dates back to the 18th Century.
The town is, in fact, famous worldwide for producing high quality carpets and is known as the ‘home of British carpet making’.
Kidderminster is on the River Stour and around 17 miles from Birmingham and 15 from Worcester. The vibrant town is twinned with Husum in Germany.
Among Kidderminster’s impressive historic buildings are St. Mary and All Saints Church, which dates back to medieval times and the iconic 1877 Blakeway Clock Tower.
And, of course, there is the Museum of Carpet which showcases the town’s most famous industry.
The town’s football club Kidderminster Harriers also dates back to 1886 and the club has enjoyed success – both in non-league and some in the English Football League (EFL).
The Wyre Forest, just outside Kidderminster, is one of the largest ancient woodlands in England and is a popular area for hiking, cycling, and wildlife watching.
