TRAVEL ALERT - Upcoming road closures and speed restrictions in Bewdley

Tristan Harris 30th Oct, 2024

DRIVERS in Bewdley are being warned about some upcoming roadworks and road closures.

They will take place in the coming weeks for various reasons.

Temporary Closure – Park Lane

A 60metre stretch of Park Lane will be shut from its junction with Orchard Rise from November 4.

The closure – being undertaken by Worcestershire County Council for utility works – will last four days.

Motorists are advised to find alternative routes – they are urged to drive down the part of Park Lane which is open, into Load Road, then into the B4190 Welch Gate, Sandy Bank, Wyre Hill, Birch Tree Road and back into Park Lane.

The route can also be negotiated in the opposite direction (see map below).

Speed restriction – A456 Long Bank

A temporary 30mph speed restriction will be in place on the A456 Long Bank from November 11.

The limit, imposed by Worcestershire County Council, will last five days to November 15.

The new restriction will be in operation from Long Bank’s junction with Church Lane for 343metres west and 988 metres the other way – to the entrance of the Wyre Forest Visitor Centre.

The speed limit is because a water main is being replaced by Amey PLC.

Road closures – Lambourne Drive / Russet Way

A closure will take place in Lambourne Drive and Russet Way from November 11 for 15 days.

The action is being taken on Lambourne Drive from its junction with Laxton Drive for a distance of 79 metres.

A second closure will also be in place on Russet Way from its junction with Lambourne Drive to its junction with  Laxton Drive.

Worcestershire County Council, which is putting the measures in place, will be reconstructing a footpath.

Alternative routes can be found via Laxton Drive and vice versa in the opposite direction.

Check out the map below for more.

Temporary road closure – Dowles Road

Drivers need to be aware that part of the B4194 Dowles Road will be closed for five days from November 18.

It will be shut between its junction with Woodthorpe Drive to Sabrina Drive so a water mains replacement can be carried out by Amey PLC.

A diversion route is in place along the following route –  B4194 Dowles Road (part), B4190 Winbrook, B4190 Cleobury Road, A456 Long Bank, A456 Callow Hill, A4117 Cleobury Road into Shropshire and B4194 Dowles Road (part).

Those travelling in the opposite direction can use the diversion the other way round.
