A BOXING club in Stourport has celebrated its first anniversary.
Stourport Spartans Boxing Club opened last year with a view to using boxing as a positive impact on people’s lives.
This week, the club said it was reflecting on an outstanding first 12 months.
During that time, the organisers have witnessed children grow in confidence, young people develop discipline, focus and respect and seen adults surpass limits they once thought unattainable.
The club said: “What began as a boxing session has evolved into a place of support, belief and community.
“Our gym has become a safe environment where members of our community come together to support one another and foster something positive.
For many, it has been much more than a training facility and it has served as a vital lifeline.”
Over the past year, the club said some members had transformed their outlook on life, overcome alcohol and drug addiction and replace harmful habits with purpose, routine and dedication.
“Boxing has contributed to rebuilding confidence, restoring hope, and in some cases, even saving lives.”
As the club enters its second year, it is seeking local businesses and supporters interested in sponsoring the club.
“Sponsorship will enable us to continue offering opportunities for children, youths and adults in our community, enhance our equipment and expand our services.
The club urged any people or companies interested in ‘supporting the positive scheme and making a meaningful local impact’ to get in touch. And it thanked every member, coach, volunteer, parent and supporter who has contributed to its community over the past year.
“Thank you sincerely – we could not have achieved this without you.
“Year one was just the beginning.
“In year two, we move forward – stronger, larger and better.”
