RIK MAYALL FESTIVAL - 'Tales of the Unexpected' plays heading to Droitwich's Old Library Centre

Kidderminster Editorial 30th May, 2025

TWO AWARD-winning ‘Tales of the Unexpected’ plays coming to Droitwich this Saturday as part of the Rik Mayall Comedy Festival, writes Alexander Shingler.

Mayhem Theatre’s  90-minute collection of two plays, netted the theatre company awards at All England Theatre Festival.

Final 45 with Frank Farmer

The first play is The Final 45 with Frank Farmer — After six-and-a-half years, Frank is being taken off-air.

Since moving from England to the USA he has become one of the most recognised faces in the country.

For his final appearance he interviews his favourite guest, actress and singer Tania Drew, and her husband Tyrone. The subject of his final show is forgiveness. However, there seems to be some friction between Frank and Tyrone. But is everything quite as it as it seems?

The Sandlewood Mouse

Following the interval will be The Sandlewood Mouse — Nick and Sue are selling their ‘doorstop’ at a local auction house to pay their Sky bill.

It is a large pottery mouse made by Victorian artist John Sandlewood.

The estimated value is around £80 but when the auction starts, it looks as though their doorstop could fetch more money than they expected.

However, are they selling it at the best auction house? Nick has a cunning plan to maximise their profits… or is he just being greedy?

The performance will take place at The Old Library Centre at 7.30pm on Saturday, May 31.
