62 new Electric Vehicle (EV) chargers to be installed in Kidderminster, Stourport and Bewdley

Kidderminster Editorial 11th Jun, 2025

WYRE FOREST District Council has confirmed 62 electric vehicle chargers will be installed across 17 of the car parks the authority owns in Kidderminster, Stourport and Bewdley.

The district council has teamed up with contractor Otaski and the new installations will provide 124 sockets.

They will be put in over the summer, starting with Kidderminster.

The installation will come at no cost to the council and will also generate a new stream of income through the revenue sharing from charging infrastructure.

This announcement follows the council’s reaffirmed commitment to EV infrastructure earlier this year, after a previous contractor withdrew from the project.

‘Vital infrastructure being delivered’

Coun Dan Morehead, Cabinet Member for Economic Regeneration, Planning and the Green Agenda, said: “We’re delighted to be moving forward with Otaski to deliver this vital infrastructure.

“This project supports our climate goals, provides a valuable service to residents and visitors, and does so at no cost to the taxpayer. We will of course be ensuring that we get the infrastructure right for both today’s and future needs.”

Stephen Lawrence, Otaski’s head of business development at Otaski added: “We’re proud to partner with Wyre Forest District Council on this ambitious roll-out. “Our goal is to make EV charging accessible, reliable, and future-ready for communities across the UK.”
