LOCAL traders in Bewdley have created a foldout map of the town, after the decrease in footfall due to flood work defence works taking place.
The map pinpoints parking, points of interest and includes 35 businesses, which all contributed to its production.
The flood defence work has discouraged residents from visiting, significantly impacting local trading.
Led by Brynn Hazelwood of The Green Cobbler and Martin Fisher from Num Lock Solutions – the map aims to encourage more people to the town.
Dani Brushfield-Smith of Rogue Letters designed the map and it is sponsored by local printers Outpost Custom.
Brynn said: “While the flood defence works are essential for the town’s safety, it is disheartening to see the traders’ livelihoods overlooked in the planning.
“This map is our way of drawing visitors back to our wonderful town and showing that our shop doors are still open.”
Hannah Dudley of Outpost Custom added: “We’ve been part of the Bewdley business community for years, so when we saw the traders pulling together like this, we were happy to help.”
Dani Brushfield-Smith, added: “An unexpected pleasure of working on the map was discovering local businesses I hadn’t visited yet. It made me appreciate just how much we have here in Bewdley and how special our community really is.”
10,000 copies will be distributed across town, with the message that businesses are still open.
