THE team at Blue Cross in Bromsgrove marked the recent celestial event with the birth of five little stars.
As the planets lined up in the sky, one year old Star gave birth at the national pet charity’s rehoming centre on Wildmoor Lane, Catshill, to five kittens.
In keeping with the mother’s name, and the rare astronomical event, the team called the kittens Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn and Neptune.
Caroline Oram, Adoptions Coordinator at Blue Cross in Bromsgrove, said: “Star and her kittens are doing really well.
“She came into us as a stray and heavily pregnant with three kittens already – at only 12 months old she has not had a chance to be a kitten herself.
“She is the most affectionate cat and a great mother and her kittens are thriving.”
Mum and her kittens are all being cared for in foster homes until they are ready to be found new homes.
The centre is always looking for volunteer foster carers who can care for animals in their own homes until a permanent home is found by the charity.
Caroline added: “The more fosterers we can get, the more we’re able to assist with as many animals as possible.
“They do a really incredible job caring for the animals until we can find them their forever homes and we find pets thrive in real homes with all the hustle and bustle of everyday life.”
Foster carers look after cats, dogs and small animals in their homes and Blue Cross provides training for all new fosterers and supply all necessary equipment and food.
