A SERIES of events celebrating the life and works of Shakespeare will be hosted at The Hive in Worcester as the world comes together to honour the famous playwright.
Worcestershire County Council’s Library Service are hosting the string of events in recognition of Shakespeare Week 2025 (March 24 to 30).
Featuring will be exclusive archival visits to lively discussions and film screenings. First up is an archive visit showcasing Shakespeare’s Marriage Bond (Monday, March 24 – 6pm to 6.30pm)
This will be a rare opportunity to view the Shakespeare marriage documentation, held at the Hive (£5 tickets – booking required). This original archival material is only available to view on these timed tours with the Worcestershire Archives team.
Next up is a film screening on Tuesday (March 25 – 6pm to 9pm). A modern-dress take on Shakespeare’s longest play, Hamlet, featuring David Tennant and Patrick Stewart. No booking necessary, just drop in.
Mid week will be The Great Shakespeare Showdown panel discussion (Wednesday, March 26 – 6.30pm to 7.30pm). Visitors can join a panel of the University of Worcester and friends’
Shakespeare experts and enthusiasts making the case for their favourite Shakespeare plays.
Confirmed panellists include Daniel Somerville, Tom Mandall, local icon Ginny Lemon and Professor Nicoleta Cinpoes (tickets £1 each – booking required).
Last up to finish off the week of Shakespeare themed events is a PG film screening on Saturday (March 29 – 2pm to 3.30pm). The screening is a family-friendly take on the Bard’s life, presented by the minds behind Horrible Histories. No booking necessary, just drop in.
