A TOTAL of £661 was raised for the Harry Bennett Foundation (HB9) charity from a quiz at Stoke Prior Sports and Country Club.
A total of 13 teams came together for The Great Charity Quiz Off was generated through a combination of quiz round sponsorship by local businesses, team entry fees and a raffle on the night.
The event brought the local community together for a night packed with brain-teasing questions, laughter, and friendly rivalry – all in the name of a brilliant cause.
From classic quiz rounds to a lively music round, every moment was filled with good-natured competition and community spirit.
Quiz master Alex Crawford, supported by his mum, did a fantastic job hosting the evening, keeping the momentum high and the atmosphere fun from start to finish.
Pizza Heaven kept quizzers well-fed, fuelling the fun with delicious slices.
The final scores were close, but it was 3 Men and a Lady (from Sherwood Barbers) who took the crown, with E = MC Hammered hot on their heels in second, and The Mix Ups landing a solid third.
A special award was given for the best team name – ‘We’ll Do Better in the Next Round’ – which was headed by Standard editor Tristan Harris. Although, ironically, the team finished 11th.
‘Thanks to the generosity of participants’
Stoke Prior Club’s general manager, Mark Goddard said: “We’re incredibly proud of the turnout and the generosity of everyone involved.
“It’s evenings like this that show the power of community coming together to support a local charity.
“I’d like to thank the local businesses which sponsored quiz rounds and donated raffle prizes, as well as those who contributed behind the scenes, all helping make the event such a success.
“To have raised over £660 towards our annual target of £5,000 is fantastic.”
