CHILDREN at the Little Trinity Nursery in Kidderminster celebrated Chinese New Year with a packed day of activities learning about the people and culture of China.

2025 marks the year of the wood snake, the sixth animal on the 12-year cycle.

The youngsters played with a Chinese sand-number tray, decorated Chinese lanterns and read Chinese stories.

Nursery manager Gaynor Carter, said: “Celebrating Chinese New Year and the year of the wood snake has been a memorable sensory experience for the children and staff.”

Little Trinity often has opportunities to discuss and participate in a diverse range of traditions and experience which helps to promote the children’s understanding of the world as part of their Early Years Foundation Stage learning programme.

The year of the snake represents wisdom, growth and renewal and its ability to shed its skin helped the children learn about transformation.

Gaynor added: “We include a wide range of celebrations and cultural festivals from around the world in out curriculum.

“This approach allows our children to expand their knowledge and appreciation of various traditions and cultures globally.”
