Clean up in order for Bentley Pauncefoot

PEOPLE from a village on the edge of Bromsgrove and Redditch came together for their annual litter pick.

The Bentley Village Hall team annually organises the Litter Pick and Bromsgrove District Council supplies the pickers, the high-vis vests, gloves and collection bags.

A team at the village hall co-ordinates the routes and distributes the equipment.

More than 30 parishioners joined in the litter pick and covered all of the lanes in the parish on Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning last week.

In spite of regular walkers in the parish picking up litter daily and weekly, a huge number of black bin bags were filled with rubbish from in the hedges and ditches of the area.

A spokesperson from the group said: “The majority of the rubbish was glass bottles from beer, lager, wine and whiskey.

“Not only is the rubbish of concern but the fact people are driving around our lanes consuming quantities of alcohol

“Once again, we ask people to take their litter home and not use the countryside as a litter bin.”
