County council launches new lifestyle programme to help adults in Worcestershire get fitter

Kidderminster Editorial 1st Aug, 2025

A FREE lifestyle programme to help adults in Worcestershire lose weight and develop healthier habits is being launched, writes Abigail Wyatt.

Worcestershire County Council is offering free 12-week programmes for looking to lose weight, feel more energetic, and live a healthier lifestyle.

Led by a qualified nutritionist, each weekly session is packed with expert advice and practical tips.

Here’s what to expect:

  • Weekly 30-45 minute nutrition workshops
  • Friendly group discussions and support
  • Optional weight tracking
  • Delivered virtually- no travel needed

This course features culturally appropriate recipes and tailored dietary advice.

Qualified experts provide nutrition and exercise support which is appropriate for patients with health conditions, such as type 2 diabetes.

Councillor Satinder Bell, cabinet member for health and wellbeing at Worcestershire County Council, said “This is a brilliant opportunity for anyone wanting to feel healthier and build better habits.

“What’s even better is that it’s all online, so you can take part form home. Not everyone finds it easy to attend sessions in person, and this virtual option makes it much more accessible.

“I’d really encourage anyone thinking about making a change to give it a go.”

The programme runs every Monday from 1pm to 2pm on Microsoft Teams, and people can join at any time.

Public Health from Worcestershire County Council supports this programme in encouraging participants to make small, manageable changes that mount to a healthier lifestyle.
