WYRE FOREST District will be flying the flag in honour of this year’s Commonwealth Day, writes Maya Evans.
Members of the public are invited to attend the flag flying ceremony which will take place at 9.45am tomorrow (Monday, March 10) outside Wyre Forest House, Kidderminster.
The event will start with a formal welcome from Coun John Byng, chairman of Wyre Forest District Council. Refreshments will be available afterwards in Wyre Forest House reception.
The theme of this year’s Commonwealth Day is ‘Together We Thrive’ and it aims to focus on the importance of building strong, connected communities where members help and support one another.
On the significance of the event, Coun Byng added “It is an honour to be raising the flag in recognition of Commonwealth Day this year
“The day is an excellent reminder of how people from all walks of life can come together in unity to build a stronger, brighter future.”
