Free domestic abuse awareness training on offer for professionals in Worcestershire

Lise Evans 23rd Jan, 2025

FREE domestic abuse awareness training is being offered by West Mercia Police to professionals and members of the public in Worcestershire.

Organised by the South Warwickshire Community Partnership, the sessions aim to ensure people recognise the signs of domestic abuse and raise awareness of where they can signpost colleagues and clients, friends and family.

The Cut It Out campaign was launched in Norfolk following the brutal murder of 32-year-old Kerri McAuley in 2017.

She had confided in her hairdresser about the domestic abuse she was experiencing at home but was tragically murdered a few weeks later at the hands of her abusive partner.

The campaign recognises that people who work with the public in any capacity are in a position of privilege with their clients as someone they can trust and confide in.

One in four women and one in six men will experience domestic abuse at some point in their life. It affects people across all walks of life and last year 2.4million adults were victims.

The session is two hours long and takes place on January 27, February 25 and March 10 at Worcester Guild Hall, February 3 at Malvern Council House and February 12 at Pershore Civic Centre.
