FREE SmartWater bike-marking for cyclists in Bewdley

Tristan Harris 10th Feb, 2025

POLICE will be holding a free ‘SmartWater’ bike-marking event at Jubilee Gardens, Bewdley (at the back of the Museum) from 11am to 12pm on Friday, February 21.

Smartwater is a water-based solution used to mark valuables. Because each bottle has its own unique code – similar to DNA – it allows police to identify the owner of the property if it is stolen and recovered. And it can also identify the person who has stolen it, if they have the SmartWater with the relevant DNA-style code on their person.

SmartWater has led to thieves been convicted and seen valuables returned.

Wyre Forest Police said: “We are committed to protecting residents and your personal property from thieves.

“The marking events are a great opportunity to protect your possessions and have a chat to us about other crime prevention methods.

“And this service is completely free. ”
