Join the Wyre Forest Rangers for nature walks in Kidderminster and Stourport

Tristan Harris 22nd May, 2025

PEOPLE wanting to explore nature can head out on two guided walks with the Wyre Forest Rangers this weekend.

The strolls – being held as part of National Walking Month – are both being held on Saturday, May 24.

Blakemarsh Nature Reserve

The first is at 10am at Blakemarsh Nature Reserve in Kidderminster.

People should meet at White Wickets Park off Franche Road at 9.45am for a 10am start.

Britannia Gardens

Then, at 12.30pm, the rangers will lead a walk at the Britannia Gardens Conservation Area in Stourport.

Walkers should meet at the gate near the children’s play area on Britannia Gardens at 12.15pm, ready for a 12.30pm start.

There is no parking at the meeting place so, if driving, people should park nearby.

Info for both events

At both events, participants will be able to hear all about the upcoming plans to enhance and protect the conservation areas for the benefit of people and wildlife.

And they will be able to ask questions and share their thoughts on the scheme.

Attendees should be aware that, although the walks are short, the ground is uneven, brambly and can be wet so sturdy footwear and weather-appropriate clothing are recommended.

Places are free but spaces are limited so people taking part need to sign up beforehand.

Repairs completed

There was good news for users of Blakemarsh Nature Reserve this week – the boardwalk across the marsh which had to be shut for safety reasons has now been fully repaired and reopened.

The damaged section has been made safe, and you can now enjoy the full walking route again.

The Wyre Forest Rangers said: “Thank you to everyone for your patience while the work was carried out.

“We hope you enjoy your next visit.”
