KEMP Hospice's first ever London Marathon runners chosen for next year's race

KEMP Hospice has revealed the four amazing runners chosen to be the charity’s first-ever to take part in the TSC London Marathon, writes Mia Sen-Gupta.

The charity has places for runners in the 2026 marathon, all sharing the commitment to raise vital funds for local people facing life-limiting illness and bereavement.

Will, who is running in memory of a relative who benefited from KEMP’s palliative care services, is looking forward to ‘finally being able to tick the marathon of his bucket list’.

Rachel has been documenting her running journey on TikTok and will be running in memory of her close friend.  Rhys, who works for KEMP’s charity partners, Harlow Timber, is passionate about hospice care and wants to give more to his community.

The fourth selected for the London Marathon is Sam, who is an avid runner who participates annually in KEMP’s Santa Fun Run and is taking part in the upcoming Worcester City Run –  all to raise funds in memory of his beloved grandmother.

The charity said, with personal targets of raising £2,500 each, any donations to the runners would be greatly appreciated.

A spokesperson for KEMP Hospice said: “They’re not just running a marathon – they’re running for a cause that supports patients, families and carers who are living with life-limiting illness and bereavement across the Wyre Forest and Tenbury Wells.

“We hope you’ll cheer them on, support their efforts and maybe even feel inspired to take on a challenge of your own.”
