HEADQUARTERS for West Mercia Police were recently visited by students from local colleges for them to learn about careers in policing.
Students from Kidderminster College and Heart of Worcestershire College visited the force through the North Worcestershire Citizen’s Academy.
The Uniform and Public Services students visited a custody training suite, met officers from the dog handling team and learnt more about the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) during their visit.
The Citizens’ Academy gives people a chance to meet officers and staff from various areas of the force and understand the work involved in modern day policing.
Police constable Neil Sharpe said: “Being a police officer can be a very challenging but rewarding career, and it has been good to share our experiences to students who are thinking of joining the force.
“Policing is hugely varied and the opportunity to hear from officers from various areas of the job is invaluable to young people who are considering this as a profession.”
