A THEATRICAL youth group will commemorate the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War through a performance of Lionel Bart’s ‘Blitz!’, writes Jeanna Karcz.

Kidderminster Operatic and Dramatic Youth Section (KODYS) for children aged 10 to 18 across Wyre Forest will stage the stirring production.

Performances will run at 7.30pm each evening from June 26 to 28 with a Saturday matinee as well at 2.30pm.

The musical is set during the London blitz and the production celebrates those who lived through one of the most grim periods in British history.

Director Scott Denton said: “Blitz! is not only a celebration of British tenacity, but also a moving reminder of the power of community and compassion.

“Our cast has worked incredibly hard to bring this story to life, and we can’t wait to share it with audiences.”

This latest show follows on from the group’s successful performances of hit musical ‘Bugsy Malone’ and another musical concert in January of the same year.
