THE REGENERATION project to connect Worcester Street with Bromsgrove Street in Kidderminster town centre is facing delays due to additional drainage requirements on the site.
Coun Dan Morehead, Wyre Forest District Council’s Cabinet Member for Economic Regeneration, Planning and the Green Agenda said: “It looks like completion being the end of this year if the weather conditions are kind to us, rather than this summer.
“It’s disappointing there are delays, but we are looking forward to the end result which will see the replacement of the step entry with a new green community space with winding graduated steps which connect to Bromsgrove Street car park.
“Every major regeneration project has its challenges and this site is no exception.
“We are continuing to progress the work at pace and look forward to delivering a high quality and attractive space for everyone to enjoy.”
The regeneration of this area of town is being made possible through the government’s Future High Streets Fund (FHSF).
This ‘connectivity project’ is key part of the council’s ‘Kidderminster 2040’ adopted vision for the town.
The FHSF is a government funding scheme to transform struggling high streets into places where people want to work, visit and interact with each other.
