THE MAJOR revamp of Kidderminster Town Hall is nearly complete and is due to be reopened in November.

The ongoing refurbishment of the Grade II listed building has been described by Kidderminster Council as a ‘game changer’ for the town.

The total cost of the work is £11.5million, with the majority of cost covered by £8.5million from the Government’s Levelling Up Fund.

Among the many improvements will be brand new dressing rooms for performers, a reimagined cafe with flexible indoor and outdoor group entertainment spaces, modernised toilets and improved accessibility throughout.

A new lift will also be installed and there will be enhanced disabled access, along with energy efficient upgrades throughout the building.

The historic organ pipes have also been restored, with that work supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

Kidderminster Town Hall manager Matt Smith said: “It’s about the flexibility of the space to make it more commercially viable.

“Hopefully this will regenerate the town. We look forward to welcoming the community back to enjoy pantomimes, live comedy, music, and a wide range of community events in this iconic venue.”

There will be several events leading up to the official civic reopening on November 7.
