KIDDERMINSTER-based Forest Dog Rescue has launched a fundraising appeal to keep the charity running.
The current overheads for the charity are £35,000-per-month, which includes electricity, vet bills, dog food, insurance, rates, the ‘Pupmobile’, maintenance, laundry, cleaning products, heating for kennels, waste disposal and dog carers.
Brynn Hazelwood, one of the charity’s trustees, said the future of Forest Dog Rescue was beginning to look pretty bleak.
“We are having to dip into our emergency fund every month just to cover the basic costs of running the rescue and this is just not sustainable in the long term.
“This is due to ever increasing costs across the board, but predominantly it is the massive increase in dogs needing medical treatment, rehabilitation and those requiring behavioural support.
“We therefore find ourselves in the difficult position of having to ask for help in the form of people each providing a monthly donation.
“There is a massive need for rescue places for dogs in the area and we want to be in a position to help as many as we can and ensure the future of the rescue is secure and stable for our residents, giving as many as we can a brighter future for the years to come.”
