EMERGENCY services were called to Kidderminster Community Hospital earlier today after an explosion.
The incident happened around 9.30am and the explosion was in a piece of hospital equipment.
Luckily, no-one was injured in the explosion.
Police attended to cordon off the area around an MRI centre while three crews from Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service – two from Wyre Forest and one from Droitwich – dealt with the incident.
A fire service spokesperson said: “There was a small explosion involving hospital equipment.
“The hospital was unaffected by the incident but people were asked to access the building by the Sutton Road entrance.”
Public thanked for patience
In an update at 2.30pm, Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care Trust said: “We are pleased to confirm that this morning’s incident at Kidderminster Hospital has now been stood down.
“All patients with community mental health appointments scheduled today at the Robertson Centre will have been contacted by our teams to make alternative arrangements.
“We do not anticipate any further disruption to services following today’s events, and we apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused.
“Thank you for your patience and understanding.”
West Midlands Ambulance Service were contacted about the incident but after assessments of the situation deemed their no casualties or injuries, it was clear it did not need to respond,
